What’s Up on the Kavod Campus

Hello from all of us at Kavod Senior Life! We have not been in contact with you for a while. Like you, we have been working hard to keep our residents and staff safe from the coronavirus. It seems like every time we wanted to send an update, things would change. Now that summer is here, we thought we’d provide some brief information and catch you up.

  • Staying COVID-19-free, so far! Check out this feature in the IJN.
  • Being highlighted by CBS4 in March, launching our fundraising efforts for resident needs through our Coronavirus Fund and our Food & Hygiene Pantry.
  • Receiving some wonderful grants to help our residents access food and supplies from the Rose Community Foundation and JEWISHcolorado.
  • Obtaining a perfect audit of our infection prevention protocols from the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE) on May 5.
  • Remaining fully staffed, pivoting certain positions to cover essential duties.
  • Shutting down everything that is dear to us – visitors, activities, trips, communal dining, social gatherings and outreach programs, to name a few.
  • Limiting deliveries, stopping construction on some campus improvements, and enforcing both mask-wearing and social distancing.
  • Delivering contactless meals to residents three times per week; our residents have had to eat in their apartments with limited choices.
  • Supplying food and hygiene boxes to nearly 250 residents twice a month thanks to community support from neighbors, friends and businesses.
  • Featuring weekly “progressive” concert that play outside our buildings so residents can enjoy some music from inside their apartments or spaced outside. Watch a Fox 31 News/Channel 2 feature.
  • Delivering hands-on activities such as crossword puzzles, Sudoku and other items residents could do right from their apartments.
  • Watching amazing resident creativity while sheltering in place, including knitting, artwork, and mask-making!
  • Discovering unsung in heroes in staff who showed up to take care of our residents during these trying times. Check out their 1-minute missions our website.
  • Re-opening Kavod Hair Salon with enhanced cleaning protocols and a one-person limit.
  • Continuing to address opening other services while still under the strictest of measures from the CDC, CDPHE and other guidances.
  • Welcoming residents and the community to gather virtually for entertainment and education through Kavod on the Road.
  • Updating our website and Facebook with the latest information and letters to residents and family members. Go online and follow us!
