Yizkor

You are here:

Remembering those who have passed away

Yizkor is a meaningful tradition to honor loved ones who have died. It is a way to bring a sense of meaning, comfort and connection.

A Yizkor book of names to remember will be published this fall, available to Kavod residents for Yom Kippur, a Yizkor service at the end of Sukkot, Passover and Shavuot 5786. You may join these services or request a copy for yourself.

The deadline to submit a name is September 8.

If you would like to add a name(s) to our list please use the form to the right. All names and donations (amount of your choice) must be received by Sept. 8 to be included in our printed book. Please check the box on the form if you’d like a copy.

Holiday Services at Kehillat Kavod: Services at Kavod’s Jewish Community Shul (including Shabbat, Slichot, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Shmini Atzeret/Yizkor and Simchat Torah) will be led by Dr. Seth Ward. If you would like to join us in person please email Rabbi Steve (click here) contact him if you could use any resources and/or recommendations for services and other spiritual practice opportunities at

Our Kavod Yizkor services will take place in our Shul on Yom Kippur (10/2) and at the end of Sukkot on Shmini Atzeret (10/14) around noon each day (arrive early!). You are most welcome to join us.

We speak in Judaism of “Mei Avdut L’cherut/From Slavery to Freedom.” We also speak of the light that comes from the darkness if we can connect with HaMakom/The Source of comfort, support and resilience. May the sincere prayers of our hearts in these still challenging times bring a “new light” and healing to our people and our world, and great blessing.

From our family to yours we wish you a Shana Tovah, a good, sweet and blessed New Year 5786!

Rabbi Steve Booth-Nadav & Michael Klein
